Nothing Gold Can Stay

According to Robert Frost, " Nature's first green is gold ".  According to our walk along Mission Creek yesterday afternoon, it seems her last green is also gold, and what a beautiful gold it is.

Sunless Sunday

Today is a very grey day in the so called sunny Okanagan.  A good day to put on a cosy sweater, some comfy leggings and cuddle into the corner of the couch with a good book and a cup of tea. Something Gothic would fit the bill... like Wuthering Heights, or some Edgar Allen Poe.  Despite this excellent idea, I got distracted by a number of domestic duties that ended with a trip to Tail Blazers for dog food and a photo hop on my perennial favourite Benvoulin Road.

October Harvest

Golfing has never been my pastime of choice, infact the one good thing about my shoulder issues is that they've prevented me from having to enter a number of golf tournaments.   I am therefore pleasantly surprised to say I really enjoyed my Saturday afternoon golfing adventure at Kelowna's Harvest Golf Club with three of my favourite ladies.   I'm not sure what made me agree to go along with them,  probably the fact that it would be low key, no pressure, and end with an alcoholic beverage.  My husband cobbled together a set of clubs from some of his left overs, put them in an old plaid bag my Dad had brought out with him a few years ago, and I was ready to go. The Harvest is a beautiful course set on a working apple orchard with ten different apple varieties.  They also grow three varieties of wine grapes harvested by Calona Vineyards .  We couldn't have asked for a nicer October day.  The sun shone, there was low cloud over the lake but none over the course

The Portman Bridge in Vancouver Somewhere in this area of Shakespeare inspired names like Othello Road, Shylock Road, Portia and Juliet Creek, there are a series of railway tunnels and bridges that are part of 3.5 km trail I hope to hike one day. We stopped for lunch at The Blue Moose in Hope.  The food was good but extremely hot.  I had to wait a good ten minutes before I could eat my Moroccan 9 vegetable soup without scalding my tongue and hubby's Caribbean flat bread sandwich was pipping hot as well.  There was a smattering of snow on the hills at the summit, but the roads were clear and dry all the way so we didn't need our snow tires after all. I was glad, however, we'd just
